ASIAN YOUTH COUNCIL AT A GLANCE
Asian Youth Council (AYC) is a non-governmental, youth-serving, regional organization, formed on the 14th of August 1972, to promote the solidarity and family spirit among young people in Asia as well as to strengthen national youth organizations in the region.
Memberships of the AYC comprised of national youth argumentative essay topics about animals organizations in Asia. AYC serves as a forum for information exchange among national youth councils in Asia and other inter-regional agencies. It works closely with various regional and international partners to promote youth volunteerism and development of leadership among young people.
AYC is an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission (ECOSOC).
AYC priority areas shall be guided by two UN documents, namely the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
By tackling the issues concerning WPAY and MDGs, AYC aspires to concoct “One Asia”. The concept originated from current President of Asian Youth Council upon assuming the presidency. He envisions that One Asia Community lives harmoniously in a peaceful region and shares a common level of development.
AYC seeks to collaborate with other international agencies and non-governmental organizations working on youth development programmes.
AYC works centered around creating awareness and mobilizing national youth councils and other youth-serving NGOs in the region on various youth-related issues. AYC serves as advocate for young people at the international forums.
AYC collaborates with its affiliates and other international agencies to organize seminars and youth camps for young people in Asia.
The highest decision making body of AYC is its General Assembly which is held three years. AYC convenes Executive Committee Meeting every year in which the AYC leadership discusses priority areas and upcoming programmes.
The Secretary General heads the AYC Secretariat which located in Malaysia. The Executive Secretary who reports to the AYC President and Secretary General is responsible for day to day operations of the Secretariat. He is assisted by project executives and volunteers.
HOW TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP
Membership of AYC is open to national youth council in Asia, grade my paper online recognized by their respective governments. Decision on membership applications are made during AYC General Assembly.
